Evanston Farmers’ Market
Farmers’ markets are one of the oldest forms of direct marketing by small farmers. From the traditional “mercados” in the Peruvian Andes to the unique street markets in Asia, growers all over the world gather weekly to sell their produce directly to the public. In the last decade they have become a favorite marketing method for many farmers throughout the United States, and a weekly ritual for many shoppers.
In a farmers’ market, a group of farmers sell their products once or twice a week at a designated public place like a park or parking lot. Some farmers’ markets have live entertainment. Shopping at a farmers’ market is a great way to meet local farmers and get fresh, flavorful produce.
Evanston Farmers’ Market
This year, downtown Evanston’s Farmers’ Market celebrates its 40th anniversary. Held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday from May 9 through November 7 at the intersection of University Place and Oak Ave (behind Hilton Garden Inn, east of East Railroad Ave).
The market has a festive atmosphere and is a real crowd-pleaser! As many as 58 vendors sell a wide variety of goods each week, including fruits, vegetables, meat, flowers, cheese, eggs and bakery items. LINK cards are accepted. Please note that dogs are not allowed at the market (with an exception for service animals).
Parking is free in the adjacent 1800 Maple Avenue Self Park Garage with ticket validation at the City of Evanston tent.
